Combined technology with the power of the Sun for the ultimate choice in hot water heating systems...
The edson Solar Heat Pump operates like a refrigerator in reverse. It contains a fan that forces air through an evaporator that contains a refrigerant. The heat in the air passes through the evaporator and is absorbed by a natural refrigerant, CO2 (R744), which is ozone friendly and does not contribute to global warming. The warm gaseous refrigerant is circulated in the system via a compressor. As it passes through the compressor, its pressure rises and causes the temperature to increase. The hot refrigerant is finally transferred to the Edson Storage Tank via the condenser.
By cycling the stored water through our collectors the Storage Tank sits at a temperature above 60°C for 7-8 months of the year. For the remainder of the year, the temperature sits between 30°C and 40°C keeping operating efficiency up to 80%.*
